Also, PM Tex. He has a DI parts truck in the yard. He may be able to source you some stuff. But Paul's a great guy, and usually has everything you need in stock.

Check on his profile on http://www.landroversonly.com. I think his number is listed on there.

I have two cv's from a 10 spline axle I will let go cheap;
Here the story; presumed front axle growling (at light throttle) was caused by bad cv's
replaced cv's with new - noise still there
swapped 1993 axle with rebuilt 1995 axle (fine spline) - noise still there
rebuilt front driveshaft -  noise still there
LT230 transfer case swap  - noise went away!!!

parts for sale
2 cv's (from 1993 with 10 spline) $50 bucks plus shipping
1995 LWB upper tailgate - perfect condition
1995 LWB factory brush guard
1995 LWB front air dam w/driving lights
1995 rear driveshaft (flex couple)
1995 air suspension compressor (purchased new in approx 2005)
1993 ABS pump with 1995 plug
1993 L&R 10 spline rear axles

I figure that Range Rovers and Discovery 1s must be filling up lots of junkyards right about now.

Have you tried doing a parts search at one or more of your local automotive recycling facilities (junk yards)? HERE is a list of a bunch of them in Ct., many with "search for a part" features on their websites.

I don't know much about the axle variations between model years and models, but they've got to be in the same ballpark, I'd think...

I just did a quick online search of some of my local junkyards and came up with 3 possible axles (again, I don't know what the differences/compatabilities are between years and models).

One is a front axle w/ housing off a 99 D2 w/ 76,000 miles on it for $600

The other is off a 96 D1 w/104k miles for $150

One off a 98 Disco w/92,000 mi for $300

So, they're out there....

He can't use a DII one, but the DI, D90, and RRC are interchangeable.
