Front Seat Removal
« on: October 26, 2009, 06:42:49 PM »
Just wanting to know if I can remove the front seats of an '89 Range Rover without power.  In other words a local salvage yard has some nice seats, but yard rules stipulate no power attachements, i.e. no batteries allowed in the yard.  Do you need to move the seats forward/backward to get at certain bolts?  If so then the seats are lost to the crusher.

Thanks

Hey,

I replaced my seats some years ago and I believe you can remove them with a allen wrench. I  know I moved my seats back and forth to get them out easily, but there maybe a chance you could get the 2 front bolts out and then man handle the rear ones off, "Crowbar?" Or maybe you could manually push the seats forward or backward.   :)

I got mine out with no power off the parts truck, but I think the stars moon and sun had aligned for that to happen

if you reached under the seat you might be able to disconnedt the drive to the gears that angle the seat bottom.  this would help tyou get them out.  If the seats are "down" all the way it will be close to impossible to get them out without doing something.
