Thanks Scott! I will look for you, I'd love a ride in a TDi D90. You can count on it - I'll dress warmly and bring ear plugs! :D

Should be pretty easy to find. I usually follow Jimmy around - 2 yellow 90s.

Hey Scott, I received an email thanking me for the heads up. Is this you being prepared :)
Question, Not started the truck for  a few months, had to jump it the other week and left it running for a few hours, no power to restart. Jumped it again this week, run 2/3 hrs on tickover, switch off and retry straight away, no go. Is the battery fcucked or does it just need a good run.

Sounds like you either have a bad cable, a little less likely since it starts and runs fine with a jump, or bad battery.

Pop the battery out and put it on a charger for a day. Then load test it, take it to an auto parts store if you don't have a load tester. My guess is it's got a bad plate or two... or is just simply dead.

jimmy its like you have a bad cable connection,or a bad battery if it was dead and froze it is junk! A battery cannt be brought back once a plate freezes and cracks. So check your connection, drive it to the parts store, shut it off and try to restart if no go buy a battery throw it and and drive happy!!

What kind of battery?  If it is Optima, they need to be tricked into being charged when they are run down really low.

My yellow top shit the bed this winter.  Optima said if the charge was really low the battery had to 'tricked' into being charged.  Most chargers wont charge a battery if the voltage is too low.  They suggested running the battery parallel with a good one so the charger thinks it is charging a good battery not a junk one.
I also thought I would just let the truck run for a while to charge the battery but they told me that I would have to run the truck on the highway for an hour or 2 to re-charge the battery sufficiently.

Jimmy, fwiw I got a refurb at Batts+ for around $40. Its big and just fits, (I couldnt tell you what the size # is). Its a lot bigger than a 24 (spec'd for defender), its longer than a 48 (which is big and will fit). May be worth a call to see what they have. Its not an Optima, but ... :D
