My 96 Disco I
« on: August 09, 2010, 11:46:01 PM »
Before handing over the cash.

Installed the SD roof rack and a the rear ladder today:

The winch and discreet mount are here waiting for install, the lights are on the fedex truck, along with the awning for the rack.

Added a rear work light:

added leather seats:

Added new 3 way switch and removed the ashtray and added 2 more aux light switches for clean factory look:

awning installed

Awning deployed.

Not sure if this falls under the MOD category but I sure gained some room back.

air compressor, fire ext., 3 straps, tire repair kit, bag of straps and anchors for awning, tool kit.

Before:

After:

Flooring for the rack installed. I am very happy with how it turned out

Winch install:

Stock front end.

Got the lower half of the bumper removed, and gained some much needed approach angle gains.

I am going to pull the fairlead off and flat black rattle can the whole tray.

Installed the connection in the grill, as the factory winch option wasn't going to work with this application.

everything is starting to come together, but again I am out of town all week and next weekend is more home shopping. Not sure when I'll get more time to work on her. Still waiting for the lift as well.

2 inch spacer lift from rover north installed

All loaded up for a weekend trip.

All loaded for the first weekend trip

I've done all the mods since May 2010 when I brought it home

Installed some lights on the rack, and went for a little day trip on the Pemi River.

Trimmed the rear panels, so I don't rub anymore

drivers side trimmed and painted

Passenger side trimmed and painted. Also tweaked back to as normal as possible, it was bent in about 8 inches.

Went out to Sandwich to see some moose and exercise the dogs,

I also mounted the Hi-Lift

Since moving into the house I put every free moment into getting to how we want it and ignoring the rover a bit, but I did manage to give myself 3 hours of wheel time a couple weeks ago.

took my rover and the dogs out for a 14 mile jaunt on Sandwich Notch Road, saw absolutely no one and had the place to ourselves.

Since Land rover never put adequate parking lamps in the disco its has always bugged and didn't look right. So I had some LEDs left over from my trailer build and I installed them in the back of the lenses and pig tailed them to the city lights in the headlights. looks pretty good if you ask me.

You probably mentioned it somewhere, but what did you use for the decking material on the roof rack?  It looks a bit like welded steel mesh with a PVC coating or something similar...

Its actually a poly chicken coop flooring, light weight, flexible and fits with little to no modification.

Ahh yes.  I'm familiar with that--I think the shadows of the mesh on the roof threw me off...

Came across a smoking deal on a set of Safari Guard rock rails, so I bought them. It will take a little elbow grease to put them back to new condition and then install. After this the only want left on the list is a ARB locker for the rear end.

I LKE THE FRONT PARKING LIGHTS I AGREE PARKING LIGHTS ARE SORELY NEEDED THERE,ON MY OLD DISCO I ADDED DOUBLE FILAMENT SOCKETS TO THE LAMPS IN THE REAR BUMPER AND WIRED EXTRA BRAKE LIGHTS. REALLY LIT THINGS UP.AS FOR AN ARB LOCKER,HAVE YOU CONSIDERED A TRU-TAC LOCKER? CHEAPER AND EASIER TO INSTALL,NO PUMPS, HOSES,OR DRILLING A HOLE IN DIFF HOUSEING.THEY ARE ALSO TOTALLY MECHANICAL,MUCH LESS TO FAIL
