ABS interference on normal road.
« on: June 27, 2008, 10:44:15 PM »
What would cause the ABS to kick in when braking under normal circumstances? And not produce a light. This is on a '92 Range Rover

My first thought is re seating the sensors, but not sure where to go after that.

How about just driving with the ABS computer unplugged? That, however produces a light and it would be nice to at least give a stab at fixing it.

there is a bunch of reasonsthat the abs will activate under normal driving....sensors might be out of range, sensors might have a interminent short to ground ,might be rust on a sensor or two, harness could be rubbed threw and grounding out.... im sure matt will have a better idea on where to look first.... as for the light just take it out.... thats what i did..

My abs is faulted out to I left the light in and replace the bulb when it burns out.  My RRC stops great when the lights lit up but doesn't stop worth a crap when the light is off.  So that's my warning that my brakes won't work lmao...

Well when it's having the issue, the light doesn't come on. The only time it comes on is if you disconnect the computer in order to stop the ABS interfering all the time.

It shuts off when you get over 5mph just like normal. I was going to try and get the computer to spit out its code (by flashing the ABS light), but there is no light, so I'm not sure that would even work.
