Yea I think I'll keep the tank as is, but the wiper motors and wiring kind of bug me.  Tank is made of some pretty thick stuff, I haven't taken a look inside yet to see how bad the rust is if at all.

Well I spent a little more time today stripping it further.  Both fenders are off and the front rad/support are a couple bolts away.

The bulkhead is really bad.  I think I may have to find another.  Both footwells are gone, pedal box is gone, wing support on pass side is gone, hinge posts....what hinge posts?

The wiring harness is a lost cause as well.  Def needs to be replaced.

I can tell that nearly every nut and bolt on this truck has been off at some point (about half were missing or broken off as well)  as it got patched up again and again over the years just to keep her running.

Dad and I plan to buy the new galvy frame this year and get all the running gear installed for winter.  Seems like our timeline is getting stretched out a bit due to realities of life and other toys but...she will rise again!

Time to start accumulating parts....

Pics up soon

It's a good idea to buy all the parts you will possibly need. That way once you get back on the road you can take the time to sort thru stuff and pitch the junk and sell the good stuff.

Here's some of the latest carnage :)

Next installment will be motor/tranny removal, and further stripping forward of the bulkhead.

My father took a ride up to East Coast Rovers on a recon mission and we are about ready to pick up a new frame.  I think once that happens and I've got a shiny new frame sitting in the shop things will really start to move along at a faster pace.

They also had a bunch of old series rovers just sitting out in their lot.

That would certainly be motivation for me if there was a brand new frame sitting in the garage waiting to be rebuilt!

Very good luck with your progress and please do keep us informed.

I'm going to visit a guy I found from Craiglist that apparently has a shop full of series rovers and  parts and also does bulkhead and seatbox restoration.

I will report back with pics and info...and hopefully a truckload of parts

Not sure, he's in NH.  I actually have to look him up again myself.

Anyways thought I'd give an update.  I found a brand new galvanized frame on Ebay and scored it for $1800.  The fellow who had it was doing a project that never materialized so lucky me!  I should have some pics shortly but I'll be painting the frame and with Rust Seal from KBS Coatings.

Question, just because I'm big on details and they offer different finishes, does anyone know if gloss black or satin black is closer to correct?

I would think Satin, I have never seen a gloss black frame.
