04 Disco... switch from 18 to 16 wheels

Gavin, Thanks... checking on a couple. Also found a guy with a set of wheels/tires outside of Newark, but he won't ship... and I don't feel like driving to Newark particularly  :D

Yeah, Chris... I'm right there with you... it's embarassing that a Land Rover ever was sold with those things.

Yeah the ride is very good because the tire puts down enough rubber for the weight of the vehicle.  The air-shocks take up the rest the only problem is they wear down too quickly, I have 35K on the clock on my LR3 and those are the 2nd set.  I wouldn't mind putting on the "XS" model tires from the English and European models, which would give me a 17" tire.

I have been trying to find something that at least looks aggressive is difficult for this size.  Found a couple tires, nothing really floats my boat.  I did like the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires in the P265/60R18 size.  Those will fit my LR3 nicely with no rubbing.  Since mine is still under warranty I have to get something that will not rub when the suspension moves up and down.

Out of curiosity why aren't you considering the Grabber AT2's? According to Tirerack they come in stock size for the LR3 (255/60/18) at pretty close to the same price.

The warning that says "Not Rated For Severe Snow" kinda moved me away from them.

Oh check out this link, I forgot to post it earlier (too much sun today), these are the tires that are available for the LR3 with some off road ability, but this may help you too.

Don't forget the fact that they are General tires. I wouldn't put those on a pinto, or a gremlin. Complete p.o.s. tires. And that's my professional opinion after years of managing tire stores.
2002 LR DII SE Kalahari Edition. 4.6, locking CDL, and Detroits.
1994 LR RRC LWB. EAS conversion w/ +2" springs.

That is what I put on, is Toyo Open Country AT's, around 800 installed at my local tire shop (local, not one of the big guys).  Went from a 260/55 18" to a 255/55 18", and they look sharp.  My 2nd row seats no longer vibrate and I don't heard tire noise at highway speeds.  Also the LR3 rides nicely with them on too.  These would be a perfect fit on the 03-04 Disco SII's with 18's.  If anyone wants to take a peek at them, I have them on both rigs now.  However the Disco will be upgraded to Open Country MT's some time after the first of the year.

Yeah that is why my Disco is getting stuck everywhere off road... :P

They are a good all around tire, if you drive more on road the AT's are the choice.  The reason I haven't replaced the ones on the Disco is they work well for the roads and trails around here.  When the time comes, since the Disco is not a daily driver, I am going to put MT's on her.

Yes they are, but for 32"s (which is the 235/85 16's) for the Disco they are a really good price.
