3.9 Steering/Alternator Belt Adjust

There is no "tensioner" as both the PAS pump and the alternator are bolted in 2 places....one being a pivot the other being a slotted hole that enables the entire unit to be repositioned allowing the belt to tensioned.

I think you can just go to NAPA/Autozone and ask for a set of belts for your truck. Either that or DAP has a belt kit. If you're going to replace belts just go all the way. Matt's right you have to take most all of them off anyway. The hardest part is looseing up the tensioner on the fan which is kind've an odd angle. Once that's loose it's not too difficult.

If you take the old belts off and go to where ever....someplace that has a belt gauge....they can measure them and get an appropriate part # and sell you the belts that everyone makes that will fit the RRC and you can hang onto the old ones in the little sleeve that the new ones came in. You will then have a spare (in the truck right?) As well as the part # for it on the sleeve.

I have the #'s at the shop but in the name of owner paticipation and the big learning curve of how to buy parts for you rig....prolly should let you figure it out yourself.

Remember, like Ethan says,....nobody has parts for a Range Rover....but everyone does sell belts right?

...and the fan tensioner bolt (1/2") can be reached from under the truck with a long extension or the sum of several smaller ones.

DON'T lever on the PAS pump body to move the pump (if you dent it you WILL need a new pump)

Kind of off topic but usable old belts work as great spares for short term. If you put them in something like a freezer bag and label it so you know where it goes they can usually be used to get home if you break a new one or spin it off and lose it...

sorry for the interruption, now back to our regulary scheduled programs :)
