A very long weekend; wish I was wheeling!
« on: September 28, 2008, 05:13:07 PM »
I got a call last night from one of the members of the motorcycle club I helped to found. One of his friends, a fellow rider went down Thursday night. Right in front of my factory's parking lot. More injuries than I can even list.

Then, over the weekend; while we've been trying to plan the benefit drive/ride; this post pops up; from another member of my club.

I'm starting to think I should get insurance on my bike before the snow birds get down here in force.

I can't wait until the florida land rover club fall rallye next month. I'm going to need it.

To All TCRiders,

On Thursday night about 9:45 pm my friend and fellow sportbike rider was cut-off by a 70+ year old woman while he was driving home from stuart bike night in vero beach. His name is Curtis Sneed And he rode a  blue zx9r. Some may have known him by his bike. He was heading north on us1 just over the county line bridge by Vero shores. the lady turned in front of him with zero reaction time. Now he lays in holmes memorial hospital in melbourne, with compound fractures in both arms, wrist and leg. His skull is dislocated from the spine, and he had massive internal bleeding. He and his family are going thruogh a lot right now considering he was the money maker in the family. Curtis Now has to go through neck surgery that has a low survival rate.

Curtis has a 5 week old baby girl that just lights up the room when you see her smile. Luckily she is young enough to not know what is going on. But she would very much appreciate if we could get enough people out to help support her Dad and his family in their time of need. I would like to organize a benefit ride for Oct. 11 2008 times and meeting place to be determined. According to the family an friends any donation will do but I would like to have a fifteen dollar donation so that we can help with any bills they have due at the time and remember it really is needed for that innocent little girl that doesn't get to see her daddy right know. Please all fellow riders keep your heads up and eyes open so that we can make this a  successful turn out for curtis and his family.

this is the link to see pics of wreck.

10:30 friday night while i was traveling east on virginia ave, and a bus failed to yield the right of way while i was going 55 mph.... I got on the front brake and then got on the rear brake and was traveling at 35-40 with 10 feet left and the bike went sideways and bucked me off into the ground and under the bus. My bike pogoed and flipped into the bus and slid past me as i rolled under the bus. Ive severe road rash to the right side of my body and have last most the use of my right leg. my bike was still running and is not that horrible of shape. When i was leaving they had my bike on its kick stand so it wasnt destroyed.

My helmet saved my life and i will sooner or l8er ride again.

Just found out tonight that a third rider in my club went down this weekend too. But his was his own fault. Practicing fast corners on a public street with a bunch of buddies. Stupid kid stuff. They need to keep it on a track, or not ride sport bikes. Five dozen members, and we've only been up a little over a month and a half. And in one weekend; 5% go down. Weird, ironic, or prophetic, I am not sure. But I've been riding slower myself the last few days.
