Branch proofing my roof rack
« Reply #15 on: July 01, 2009, 04:36:08 PM »
I have decided to add my old toolbox to my overhead rack. I am running out of room in my truck for kids and and pets and still need to carry tools as it is a old LR and has problems that I need tools for.

I found a roll of aluminum wire for my MIG and plan on chopping the toolbox and shortening it. God knows I need more room. I also have this great aluminum toolbox that was made for a truck tailgate that I plan on customizing for the rear door of the LR.

Can't wait to start.....uh does anyone know if I can die welding with aluminum???

I kinda remember my buddy telling me that years ago but, cannot remember :)

Tex

I'd be more worried about how top heavy you're getting Anthony. Pretty soon you'll roll over from crossing over a parking lot speed bump. Mine's heavy enough when I put the second spare on the roof; I can't even fathom a loaded toolbox up there.

Do you have a spoolgun?  I understand that running Al wire through the regular MIG gun can be frustrating at best.
