That's a stand alone compressor? Not the A/C compressors people sometimes use?

Thanks, just want to be clear.

I've run both Yorks and Sandens on V8's and 300tdi's (and other junk)
Neither will perform at the level of pressure or volume as a Co2 bottle...which I also carry.

Brackets are available for both of these to fit rover V8's and some of the diesels. I make them for those that you can't buy.

So Matt, why do you run these if you use the CO2 bottles? Back-up?

The bottles are nice, expensive though. In my case, my wife and I are planning some expedition/exploration type trips that might require more use (ie. filling tires, inflating mattress/rafts/kayaks, running air tools etc) than I think I can get out of the tank.

They don't have to be. I made my setup for a little over a hundred bucks. $10 per fill.

Orly?

Do tell :D

Follow up post:

Matt, and anyone else with an opinion I guess,

I have a chance to get my hands on this Buell 5440 air compressor with all the switches, tank and lines (maybe even the horn.. :p). I know it's not a priority mod but it would be coming of an old ambulance that's about to be sold off. Only have a little time to hopefully talk my boss into letting me have it before it goes away

In your opinions would this be an ok unit for permanent mounting in the Disco? Pretty sure it would fit in the engine compartment.

Thanks for any and all comments

I have a york but I also have a hydraulic winch that I do not want to plum into the rover power steering system.  Anyone done this before, so I will have a hydraulic pump and a york, I may be able  to use the second groove in the york pulley to turn the hydraulic.  the rover power steering pump and box do not run at the correct pressure for the winch.

Back up and for blowing tires back on the rim (higher volume and more pressure than all but the biggest of compressors). Even used it to put out fires and dry out wet ECU's.

Follow up post:

Forrest, you can run the hydraulic pump off the 2nd groove of a York, but particular attention has to be paid to the set up and with strian on the pump it seems sometimes as if one belt or the other is allways screaming  and just when you think its all sorted the over tensioned belts wreck the bearings in the York clutch (not making this up) but perseverance will prevail and it can be done. In fact the 2nd groove of the York is a great resource. I'm bummed that I had to go to the serpentine version to work with the 300 tdi in my RR. Trying to figure out hydraulics for it without going to a PTO...although that seems to be the only viable solution for the volume I'd like to pump.
