[RRC] rear trailing arm links
« on: April 02, 2008, 10:18:11 PM »
hey all i figured i would doa write up on it for anybody who might be doing this as well...

1.lift vehicle and support on frame not axle

2.take 2 rachet straps and go from the lower shock mount to your bumper, factory rings or recovery point in the rear.tighten them as tight as you can.. to hold the axle in place.

3.next remove the large nut at the front of both trailing arm links....some will do one side at a time or both at the same time it doesnt matter..

4.remove the threw bolt at the rearof the trailing link...one side or both.

5.remove link by sliding it out of the large rubber bushing at the front of the link and set aside.

6.install new links in reverse order...grease or antiseize the new link and slide it into the rubber bushing at the front then grease or antiseize the rear end on the link and slid it back into place and install hardware....

7.double check that you have tightened all hardware..

8.remove both ratchet straps.

9.lower vehicle..road test... then check your hardware again for safety's sake...and enjoy:biggrin:

I will add to this from personel experience though that you don't need to jack the rig up at all to do the trailing arms.  :D

No you mainly need to keep a level plane on it... Taking the springs out is another story especially when there 6" taller than stock like mine are
