[D90] Clutch Removal
« on: March 02, 2009, 07:10:40 PM »
Saturday i took the seats, seat box, floors and tunnel out of the 90. Removed the door for easy acess and lifted out the transfer case, gear box and the bellhousing in one piece. Snapped 5 of the 6 T/C mounting bolt, Thats as far as i got. Sunday english soccer was on TV and didn't finish till 12 noon, by then it was snowing and cold. Today the T/C ect is sitting on my trailer under a foot of snow. Inside the bell housing looks a mess with black soot and crap, still got to take out the clutch to see what it looks like.

Time to drag it off the trailer and into the man-cave. That way you can work on it within easy reach of the beer!

That clutch must of been slipping, huh? I can't imagine even you could destroy a clutch like that in only 5,000 miles!

Me and my dad did the clutch in our '71 IIa like that. You're right it certainly is pretty easy to work on in that state.

Good luck with the repair! Hopefully you have a few more good weather weekends to get the job done.

the side showing in the pic was up against the pressure plate, the other side wasn't worn down to the rivets. Have a new plate. Right clutch came yesterday. Have another go Saturday.
