Kevin,
I appreciate your sentiments, however we are going to go ahead with the two week plan. The main reason for this is simple: Allison and I are doing it no matter what. Then, when we mentioned it to Brandt he said he and his wife are all in. I put the idea out there and so many people expressed interest that the truck count shot up to 20. I figure most of those people will not commit, but hope to end up with 5 - 10 trucks.
Anyway, you are correct that I do not have extensive knowledge of NH and VT trails, but that is why I reached out and asked for people interested in planning to get on board. I have great response on that front and am preparing for a meeting of the minds planning session. The other thing you will note is that I have not said very much about trail riding/wheeling. There are two reasons for this: the first, you have already identified - that I don't know that many trails; and the second is that the point of this expedition is less about that and more about the traveling. We have identified two ghost towns that require four wheel drive to access; the Land Rover Driving School in Manchester; Harpoon Brewery; and other locations as stopping points. The Muddy Chef Cook Off is being planned to take up one of the weekends and we will route towards that so I can win. (Hahah) Remember, even those four events will require eight days to tackle because of driving time between them. Anyway, the planning continues.
I will say that I am disappointed in the disappearance of the SNHLR folks as I have received very few confirmations in response to this post. Over at Muddy Oval there is still plenty of interest and our truck count is still up around 15.
Obviously, this is not going to be a MAR level, uber-planned event. We got destinations, and more are being planned; we're going to camp, drink beer and cook food; we'll go to ghost towns; we want kids to come along; we'll camp. In the end, it'll just be plain fun.
