Winch Bracket Help
« on: May 30, 2009, 04:24:24 PM »
Well....It has been a while since I have been on here. I have been in and out of the country and state for a while, and now have stabilized myself here in NH. I have been calling around and doing a whole bunch of research, and I can't seem to get an answer from anyone. I am looking for the original Range Rover P38 winch mounting bracket. It seems a lot of places list it as if they carry it, then I call and they don't have it. So two questions. Where can I find one/ can i bitch to Land Rover and hope they give me the dimensions and have one made by a 3rd party? Or does anyone know someone with one so I could ask them if I could use it to have a replica made? I appreciate the help.

Yeah, I got a call from a pissed of certain someone who had my child and I was reined back in to the house. Yes I do have the video. I will see what I can do about importing it this afternoon. Well my issue with the winch bumper is, I saw one in person and was not impressed for what the cost was, I would like to find someone local who I can pay the money to and be part of the process and make sure nothing gets screwed up. Any suggestions on the end of the spectrum?

Rovertym has been working on bumopers for P38's. They're darned close to releasing them. Call Jordan, or Ben, and ask for some "spy" photos. There's a couple up on LRO> Good looking piece.

I believe it was in the show it off section. A member there has the prototype on his truck. But Ben and Jordan are very willing to help when they think it may end up in a sale. They've never steered me wrong. Probably why I buy so much stuff from them, lol.

No Ben. If you worked for Rovertym, you wouldn't be driving a Dodge. You'd just have Dodge axles under your Rover.

Well I have good news for those interested. Today I was able to obtain the diagrams for the original factory winch bracket. I know everyone here has horror story about the dealership but I must say I did appreciate the help they gave me today. I called the parts department and asked if I could get the diagrams and they worked on it for an hour, and emerged successful. Bill at GBR has the diagrams and is going to see if he can fab one for me. If anyone else is interested in one let me know. I know the realm of P38s being driven off road is slim to none but i don't want other people so suffer like I have trying to find it.

And on a side note Don I am going to upload that video in a few minutes after I eat dinner. I wanted to do a whole video of everything i filmed, but I will put that short clip up first for you. Every time I watch that part where everyone was getting stuck and Matt just blasts through it I hear Bette Midler's "wind beneath my wings".

Andrew; If Bill makes one for you, I'll cut the fab cost with you and order one as well. I buy anything Dad has. I just put a Detroit locker and GBR double decardon rear DS in last month. I don't have a P38 yet, but I'll buy the winch tray just to have when I find my perfect 2002 4.6 HSE. Happy to see you ended up as pleased as I have been with GBR. They're the best.
