A Defenders Day Off
« on: June 08, 2009, 02:13:18 PM »
Just to demonstrate the Big D doesn't rest on it's laurels when it's not in the woods, driving through mud holes or scaling mountains I've attached some pics of the more domestic side of it's personality!

PS - I've even used the winch to pull tree stumps.  Just goes to show Defenders aren't that far removed from Farm implements........

The old "Chelsea Tractor" 's grandchild looks at home doing yardwork. Good to see it's not just a mud-toy, or a trailer queen.

For a proper "Chelsea Tractor" check out this link -

It a Lambo!  Some of us old enough may even remember the old LM002.  Now that was a fun one - V12 and all!

I've seen Sly Stallone driving one of his around Miami; and there's a local guy in Fort Lauderdale that has one he put a Diablo VT motor into. They're the ugliest SUV ever created. But then again look at it's original design platform: It was designed for a proposal on a bid for the Israeli Mossad for a high speed interceptor for the middle east deserts during black ops.

They are something only it's mother could love, that's for sure!  But I have to admit, there's something about them.  Anyway, should anybody want to relive their 80's fantasy, there's one for sale on Ebay with a BuyItNow of $90 large ones!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Limited-Edition-Lamborghini-LM002-4WD_W0QQitemZ220430782462QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item3352b2cffe&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A12|39%3A1|72%3A317|240%3A1318

- Guess they hold their value.

I'm trying but at the pace I'm going it will be another 6 months...  It sucks being an anal perfectionist and restoring a Defender 90. I guess it could be worse, it could be a 110

Ive thrown in the towel I'm no longer a Land Rover Owner....  Well at least this week I cleaned out the bank account to stimulate my friends ecomony. I bought a 1999 Ford Ranger 4x4 extended cab 4 door...

Just another setback in the long running OCD restoration project... Ill get it done someday I hope...

The Truck is cool its a 5 speed no frills 4x4....  My fried put in a new Clutch Front and Rear Drive shafts, Breaks, I did a full fluid and Plugs and wires...  I have a new carpet and shock on order...

But all in all its not a New England 10 year old truck only noticeable rust are a few holes in the bed... Ironically caused by a drop in bed liner...Grand Pops is going to spring for the rust fix and Line X the bed...

My D-90 restoration fund just took a major hit so no lockers this year... Anyway im shooting for end of July to at least have it driveable again...

Sorry no pics of the restoration, Ill snap some this weekend if its not raining again...
